Mind Your Mom!
Just about every May I sit down to write Homeward Bound; I write about Mom’s Day. And why not… it is a very special day for very special people.
My Mom used to tell me, seemingly repeatedly, to do this and do that, not to do this and not to do that. ALL, I recall, very valuable advice. Looking back on it all these many years later, I can say she was, and still is, a very wise woman.
Time reveals, in fact, just about every caring Mother is a Wise Woman. I can see why we carve out a special day each year to acknowledge Moms. So here is a shout out to all Mom’s – Happy Mother’s Day!!
My Mother’s Birthday is April 12th which somehow seems to fall a month before Mother’s Day each year. So, she gets double the hugs and appropriate accolades from my Brothers and me.
Last year we almost lost her, but thankfully we get this year to celebrate her. I am sure some reading this can relate and have similar stories. For ALL those whose Mom is no longer with us, may you remember the best about them. In addition to that, there are also many who never knew their Mom due to unfortunate circumstances. I bet someone played that role in their life and they too deserve a Happy Mother’s Day!
Regardless, we can celebrate this Mother’s Day knowing Moms both here and no longer here are special in more ways than we can count.
Especially the Moms who are running their kids around from activity to activity not too far from where I type this…
You may recall my team and I are on a mission to raise $10,000 for Claremont American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), Region 3 in 2021. We do that by donating a portion of our income from home sales to this very worthy cause.
Right now, there are kids in Claremont and surrounding cities wanting to be on the soccer field but can’t due to the expense of soccer shoes, league fees, shin guards and soccer balls who are trying to make ends meet. Claremont AYSO’s Play It Again Initiative is one of the best programs out there to help kids get back onto the pitch. The Mom’s running around from homeschooling to activities that are starting up again, could use relief from additional funds going out. One thing less to stress about will help them simply just be “Mom” and focus on doing what a real loving Moms do. God bless them for it.
